EP 46: Reshaping The Intimate Apparel Industry With Joanna Griffiths, Founder of Knix

In this weeks episode I chat with Joanna Griffiths Founder & CEO of Knix, a brand that’s reinventing intimates for real life with multi-tasking bras, underwear and other first layer pieces that directly address real women’s needs. In this episode we chat about:
WHAT SPARKED THE IDEA
The idea for Knix was sparked when Joanna was having a conversation with her mother who is a doctor. During that conversation she learned that 1 out of 3 women, especially pregnant women, experienced some type of leak. This came as a surprise to Joanna which made her want to create a solution.
GOING BACK TO SCHOOL FOR HER MBA
After being passed up for a new position, Joanna took a year to gain her MBA as a way to become noticed in her career. That experience gave Joanna the space to research and community she needed in order to launch Knix.
RAISING OVER $1 MILLION THROUGH HER CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN
Two years after her launch, Joanna kicked off a crowdfunding campaign to fund the brands new bra. After their campaign and story was featured in Mashable, she was able to pre-sale $1 million worth of pre-orders within 40 days!
HOW SHE BOUNCES BACK FROM MAKING MISTAKES
She puts her ability to easily bounce back from the mistakes she's made on being resilient. But she also admits to still needing time to vent celebrate that mistake with champagne before dusting herself back off.
"When you’re doing something different, you’re going to make mistakes. It's just going to happen. If you get everything perfect then you probably aren’t thinking outside of the box enough."
