EP 63: Rising Above Your Insecurities With Jennifer Vassel of "I Am Unique!"
This week I chat with entrepreneur and author, Jennifer Vassel. Jennifer is the author and founder of “I Am Unique!” - a children’s book series and self-love brand aimed to inspire girls and women to rise above their insecurities and share their unique gifts with the world.
Jennifer’s interest in entrepreneurship piqued when she heard a life-changing sermon on New Year’s Eve 2012. In 2014, she published her debut book entitled, “My Channeled Energy” - a collection of poems and short stories written over a span of 20 years. It became an Amazon #1 Bestseller in two categories.
Her main focus now is building the I Am Unique! brand. Her work has been featured in Forbes, Black Enterprise, and Today. “I Am Unique!” has touched the lives of children across the U.S. and internationally - reaching places like France, the Philippines, United Kingdom, and Kenya. What Jennifer's most proud of, though, is being able to inspire others to tap into their natural gifts and live life with purpose and intention.
In this episode Jennifer walks us through her writing process, shares her advice for parents who may have a child that is dealing with their own insecurities, a peek into what’s next for the I Am Unique Brand and more!
ONW WHAT INSPIRED HER TO WRITE “I AM UNIQUE”
After struggling growing up to become comfortable with her birthmark, Jennifer was inspired to write a book to help both girls and women to have confidence in themselves and share their uniqueness with the world.
HOW SHE HAS BEEN ABLE TO CONSISTENTLY ATTRACT HER AUDIENCE
With Jennifer’s main audience being children, she knew that she needed to attract the people who would have the most buying power which is typically mothers. Jennifer attends events and works with influencers in the parenting space to get the “I Am Unique” book in front of more children.
ON WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE “I AM UNIQUE” BRAND
Jennifer has big plans for where “I Am Unique” is headed. In addition to getting the book into the hands of more women and girls, she wants to expand the book series and expand the main character, Erin as the face of self love. She is also working on getting an 18” Erin doll manufactured and working on turning “I Am Unique” into an animated series!
